a new project, and an update for an old one
I've been asked to set up a site for a drag racing team by a friend. Just something simple, will probably end up utilising greymatter again. Really like how easy it is to use and style.
Bill and Muriah asked for some slight changes to be made to their site. Felt like making a few changes myself, so I'll play about and ask for approval when I'm done.
All this stuff will get done as and when though, as my Dad's health isn't to good. The chemo is starting to kick in, and I'll be going back and forth when necessary.
Thankfully, wifey's health is getting back on track.

daddy day care
Spending a rare day at home today, looking after #1 daughter. She had a rough night of throwing up, and I had a rough night of clearing it up.
Ah, parenting,
Should be going out to a restaurant in Kingsclere tonight, if all goes well.

stroke one, two, three...
What a week it's been. I got a call from Mum on Saturday to say Dad was in A&E after suffering 2 suspected mini-strokes. He was moved to CDU (Clinical Decision Unit) on Saturday night, had a 3rd mini-stroke on Sunday morning, and moved to the stroke unit on Sunday afternoon. He came out of hospital on Wednesday, and he's looking a lot better for it.
I've popped up to Reading to visit him in hospital most days this week and it was good to see him at home looking more like his usual self. Hospital made him look old. Alright, he's 61, but to me he's just the same now as he was 20 years ago and it's kind of hard to lose that image.

Portable
I've been playing around with PortableApps lately. It enables you to carry your favourite software around with you on your USB drive, as long as a portable version is available. There's a pretty good range of applications available to use, including Firefox, Thunderbird, OpenOffice, XAMPP and ClamWin Portable (handy if you go around sticking your stick into as many diferent ports as possible).
They do recommend that you practice 'safe portable app-ing', scanning for viruses regularly...especially when the last computer to plugged into was an 'unknown'. All good advice really.

A long overdue update
I've been back in full-time employment since august, and I'm still enjoying it. I'm working for Barclays, in their Shortfall Recoveries team, as an Insolvencies Assistant. I'm basically a specialised administrator, I process information and submit claims to Insolvency Practitioners on behalf of Barclays and it's customers.
Sounds fun, doesn't it? It keeps me busy, probably too busy actually. It occurs to me that when I started there were 2 people doing this job. I replaced one of them, and the other resigned as he was tired of living at the Basingstoke Hilton and travelling to and from Hastings at the weekends. Is it any wonder I'm slowly falling behind on opening new cases, even though I'm working an average of 4 hours overtime a week?
Probably not.
I've thrown the towel in on my part-time job at The Anvil. I decided to try and keep it going despite my new day job, but only 2 nights a week. I quickly realised that there was a 22 hour 'Imogen and Penny' shaped hole in my day whenever I worked at the bar after working at the office.
Speaking of the kids, both are doing well. Penny had her tonsils out just before Christmas, it took her a while but she's back to her usual self again. She's loving nursery school and can't wait to start school in September. Imy's doing really well in everything at the moment: School, Swimming, Ballet... good reports from all. Her confidence is soaring, which is great.

Back in the game
I've just been offered a job with Barclays in debt consolidation. Should be starting in about 3 weeks I think, pending some online checks.
